Festive Filming Delights in Lewisham!

As another exciting year draws to a close, the Lewisham Film Office is proud to reflect on the incredible range of productions we’ve welcomed to the borough in 2025. From major streamers like Netflix and Paramount+ bringing high-profile shoots to our streets, to festive releases that have added sparkle to the season, Lewisham has firmly established itself as a go-to destination for productions of all shapes and sizes.

2025 Highlights

This year, Lewisham has continued to attract some of the biggest names in streaming. Paramount+ brought the action to a quiet residential street in Deptford for Mobland Season 2, where we facilitated a road closure for car scenes. Full closures of roads for filming requires careful planning and liaison with both local stakeholders and residents to ensure the shoot passes by without a hitch – which it did! Georgina Bown, the Film Officer on the job said “Working on this shoot didn’t come without it’s challenges but thanks to the wonderful team at Lewisham highways and parking, the shoot day went by smoothly and successfully. It was also a pleasure to place a local resident and alumni of our On Location Course on the set in a paid marshal position – this is always great to see”.

Meanwhile, Netflix’s hit series Supacell have returned to the borough for its highly anticipated second season. While details remain under wraps, their presence over recent months—and plans to keep filming into 2026 — signal exciting things ahead. We can’t wait for audiences to see Lewisham on screen in this major release – more on this to come next year!

Trailers for both of these series are yet to be released but you can refresh your memory on season 1 trailers below!

Seasonal Releases

Lewisham brought plenty of Christmas cheer to screens this year with some standout seasonal shoots plucked out for you below.

Netflix’s original film Jingle Bell Heist transformed Deptford High Street into the backdrop for its thrilling holiday caper, following two down-on-their-luck workers plotting a Christmas Eve heist in a posh London department store. It looks like a festive hoot – check out the trailer below.

Adding to the festive magic, Sainsbury’s filmed their Christmas advert on a residential street in Brockley—complete with twinkling lights and a blanket of fake snow in the height of summer! Setting up a street to look like the height of winter, in the height of summer was a challenge we managed efficiently and the results are fantastic!  The ad features their usual loveable BFG and is fantastic as usual.

For this shoot we provided paid work experience to a local resident, another On Location Course alumni who worked as location marshal on set. Beth Elliott the Film Officer on the job said, “It’s really heartening when productions are able to provide opportunities for residents in the borough. Not only does it give them some paid first-hand experience, but it also helps the production at a time when it needs additional support so it’s lovely to see a mutual beneficial opportunity for all involved and to be able to give back to the local community.” Setting up a street to look like the height of winter, in the height of summer was a challenge we managed efficiently and the results are fantastic!  The ad features their usual loveable BFG and is fantastic as usual.
