Over the past 3 months The Lewisham Film Office, managed by The Film Office, has seen a surge in filming with more than 60 shoots in the borough. We’ve highlighted some of our favourites below.
Adapted from the novel by Louise Candlish, Our House by ITV, stars Tuppence Middleton and Martin Compston as estranged husband and wife. From the ITV press release the show details “Fiona Lawson (Middleton) arrives home one day to find strangers moving into her house. With all her family’s possessions and furniture nowhere to be seen. With events spiralling beyond her control, her panic rises as she can’t reach her estranged husband, Bram (Compston). As she reflects upon the safe space in which she and her family had made a life together, Fi begins to peel back the layers of her relationship and discovers her husband has disappeared. With her life shattered, she realises the secrets and lies have only just begun.”
The production shot in multiple locations in the borough over the past few months. Firstly, we facilitated the production filming in an Empty Solicitors Office , and arranged a road closure with Lewisham Highways on the adjacent road for their exterior scenes. The production additionally filmed scenes around both Blackheath Village and also on Blackheath itself of characters arriving at an estate agent and 2 of their characters exiting a church near the Heath and walking out of it.
The currently empty Broadway Theatre is an iconic building nestled in central Catford. The Grade II listed building is a fabulous example of Art Deco design and was built in 1932. The theatre has welcomed 2 productions over the past month through its doors.
Firstly the new Dreamboats and Petticoats tour filmed scenes for their promo video in the theatre. The Jukebox musical, featuring songs of the rock ‘n’ roll era, is set around the years 1957 to 1963 and was written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran. The tour starting in March next year is now on sale here.
Secondly singer-songwriter Katy B filmed scenes for her new music video “Lay Low” in the theatre as well, utilising the main 800 seat main auditorium as well as many of the corridors and dressing rooms in the building. The video comes out in the next month so check back here soon to see how it turned out!
Beckenham Place Park
Beckenham Place Park located in the south of the borough is Lewisham’s largest green space and has played host to a wide variety of shoots over the past few months. The cycling brand Rapha shot their most recent fashion shoot for their latest autumn / winter collection in the park filming stills of their models posing against the beautiful backdrop of the park.
Grey Moth in collaboration with the homeless charity Accumulate also shot scenes for their most recent short film in the park. Outdoors, with BAFTA nominated writer and director John
Fitzpatrick is about two men whom have a romantic encounter, one of which is secretly homeless. The short film comes out next year and we can’t wait to see what the park looks like on screen. For more information on the charity Accumulate please follow the link here.
There is a huge variety of film friendly locations available in the park including a Grade II* listed Georgian Mansion House, and the 285m-long wild swimming lake, which dates back to the 1700’s! With parking options close by get in touch now to facilitate your shoot at this fantastic park!
Now in it’s 3rd season, the daytime TV Drama for the BBC centres around an elite murder investigation squad in London, headed up by DI David Bradford. The production filmed scenes in the borough at Bolina Road and Underpass near South Bermondsey. It is a great controllable dead end road with railway arches running over it and also has a colourful underpass that runs under the train tracks that offers a unique look for a variety of film shoots.
We can’t wait to see what variety of shoots over the next few months before the end of the year will bring!
